Does anyone else dislike quest mage over warlock?

    Posted: 09 Sep 2021 10:11 AM PDT

At least when I go against warlock I'm not falling asleep. Quest mage is so boring to play against and not fun whatsoever. I feel like its almost impossible to beat once they get the quest done. Every time I'm so close to winning, and then they otk me when I'm over 25 health.

When you can't pull off the Turn 1 OTK, settle on Turn 2. Saw this combo posted here, so I had to give it a try. Gonna try and get the turn 1 clip soon, but I thought some would enjoy seeing this combo in action.

Tavern Brawl should reward standard packs?

    Posted: 09 Sep 2021 06:26 AM PDT

Hay, I feel the tavern brawl reward should be a standard pack not a year of the Phoenix pack. I'm whale enough to own all of the year of the Phoenix cards but not all of the standard cards so sadly a Phoenix pack is worth on average 40 dust to me. Just wondering if I'm in the minority/if you guys think this change would be good or bad and would love to know why you think that way?

MarkMcKz Turn 1 OTK math in deeper analysis from wildcatterry17

    Posted: 09 Sep 2021 10:24 AM PDT

MarkMcKz is attempting a turn 1 OTK deck on this stream today and I took it upon myself with some egging from chat to actually do the math to figure out what the odds were of drawing the exact 5 cards on Turn 1 (going second) against the innkeeper.

I won't spoil the deck but it involves one copy of three cards that have 2 copies of each in the deck and 1 copy of two legendaries. So, the odds of getting all five cards on Turn One is 1 in 2,137,590.

Percentage of drawing the specific cards needed is around .00004678%

Using Wolfram Alpha, I asked it how many attempts (trials) on average it would take to get one successful hand.

    https://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=what+are+the+odds+of+1+success+in+21380+trials+given+0.00004678+chance+of+success

    The answer is 21,380 attempts.

So, not wanting to stop there and possibly to help Mark's sanity I roughly calculated how long that would take but there have to be a couple of assumptions built in.

    1. You always go second.
    2. Also, the main starting hand and a mulligan for the combo I count as two attempts.

If it takes 20 seconds to check for all of this (my estimate) then multiply that by the 21,380 attempts on average necessary for one success. Then that's 1,069 minutes or almost 18 hours straight of attempts.

Now this is based purely on just getting it to work once and it is over time so the actual time it takes could be waaaay longer or he gets super duper lucky and gets it sooner. Independent events are sucky like that. (The mulligan is a dependent event as it is determined by how many cards left needed after initial draw but I'm not going in THAT deep, I'm not a professional statistician.) So, the mulligan I lumped into the independent calculation for simplicity's sake.
