- Blizzard, please let us sink the boat, whats the point of playing if you can't sink the boat??
- Am I the only one who enjoys the current application of the discover mechanic/card generation?
- Karma
- Dying like an insect
- Just your average Priest vs Rogue game nothing to see here

- The Betrayer Has Been Betrayed
- Hope this is a good mulligan...
- I’m currently trying to make a D&D 5E one-shot based around Rastakhan’s Rumble, any recommendations for things I’m missing or that I’m focusing too much on?
- Designing the Demon Hunter by IGN
- This was possibly the most enjoyable opening I've encountered in a long, long time. [Brawl]
- Finally got a class to 1000

Am I the only one who enjoys the current application of the discover mechanic/card generation? Posted: 08 May 2020 10:19 AM PDT This seems like a very unpopular opinion, but I want to put forward something of a case in defence of the discover mechanic. The most common argument against discover is that it allows decks to avoid "running out of steam". This, in my view, is a good thing as it heralds the end of the hyper-passive reactionary fatigue decks of the past. I, for one, do not think hero power pass every turn is compelling gameplay, occasionally playing removal but only when absolutely pushed to do so, without ever actually having to execute a plan of its own. I do not believe I am alone in that sentiment, seeing how unpopular resurrect priest is across the community; and the quest variant of resurrect priest that was prevalent before AoO was even more egregious in this regard, punishing their opponent for inflicting any face damage whatsoever during the early game. Whilst the deck differs in execution to the control warrior of old, the spirit is the same; create an environment in which your opponent is forced to utterly exhaust their resources and subject them to a slow and agonising defeat. The discover mechanic removes this play style from the game, and the result is that if you want to contest your opponent then you have to do so proactively. This means that you have to play hearthstone cards. It appears to me that "using your threats to exhaust your opponent's removal" is just a better model for the game than "using your removal to exhaust your opponent's threats". Look at the most value generating control deck in standard, Galakrond Priest. The deck will literally never run out of steam, and that's fine because that isn't how you beat it; force them to use their removal before they really want to, then put up your real threats, and it doesn't matter at that point that they have an infinite value engine. We have moved from past metas in which value was king, to a meta where tempo cannot ever be completely ignored by either player; and in my mind that is a good thing, because it forces interaction. Yes, draconic lackey may have given you Ysera, but is your opponent really going to let you spend 9 mana developing it without answering their board? Presumably, draconic lackey in rogue will be considered the worst offender by many; a class with nonexistent healing or AOE. In the context of a class like that it does not appear to me that a value generation engine is inherently problematic; particularly in a meta where DH is just as capable of never "running out of steam", without any card generation whatsoever. That's just my two cents; would value your thoughts! [link] [comments]

Please nerf Priestess of Fury already Posted: 07 May 2020 09:37 PM PDT A sweatsuit or robes would be acceptable. Don't give her the Succubus treatment though, that might summon Gozer. [link] [comments]

Posted: 08 May 2020 11:51 AM PDT my current idea for everything is that the party would already be familiar with each other and would be traveling to the Stranglethorn Vale to practice their fighting abilities with the trolls, known around the land as the pinnacle of peak fighters. They would be resting and drinking in a tavern called Hakkar's Meadery when a beaten and bloodied troll enters and everyone in the busy tavern would turn their attention to him, eventually breaking the silence by cheering for him and crowding around him as he regales the tavern goers with his story in Rastakhan's colosseum. eventually the party would learn about the yearly brawl and how it's the best way to learn from the Gurubashi. they would make their way over to the arena and find that all of the tickets have been sold, so the only way to witness it all would be to participate as a show match, eventually winning it and technically meaning they move on in the rumble. I think this first battle would be against two of the troll champions, High Priestess Jeklik and Princess Talanji, with Jeklik acting as the sort of captain. due to time constraints it would be team battles, so the next one would be High Priest Thekal, War Master Voone, and Zentimo, War Master Voone acting as the captain. the semi final match would be Captain Hooktusk, Wardruid Loti, and Hex Lord Malacrass with Hooktusk acting as leader of all of them. the "final" battle would be up against Zuljin on his own, obviously going to be much stronger than any one member of the party. once he's reached half health I would make a point that they can see some of his blood seeping into the dirt below and the earth shaking below them. the ground would split open and Hakkar would burst out, summoned by the blood spilt by the party. at this point Zuljin would realize the threat that Hakkar means to the entire Stranglethorn Vale and tells the party just who Hakkar is and that they'll have to fight it together. that's about all I've gotten through and it's very much a rough draft, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated :) [link] [comments]
