- You can't play against Lich king with Illidan decks, but you can roll whizbang to give you an Illidan deck. He doesn't play any card on turn 1 or just coin hero powers. Unfortunately, I couldn't win against him to see the ending and gave up.
[Week 252] Tavern Brawl end-of-week discussion (with Strawpoll!) Posted: 15 Apr 2020 12:19 AM PDT Strawpoll here: https://www.strawpoll.me/19779032 Hello r/hearthstone, 252nd Brawl comes to an end, so let's have a discussion about it. This weeks Tavern Brawl was The Fury of Kael'thas, where every third spell cast each turn costs 0 mana, just like the effect of Kael'thas Sunstrider. Did you enjoy it? Why or why not? Any memorable moments? Would you like to see a similar brawls in the future? Discuss below. 5 previous threads | strawpolls: [link] [comments]

Posted: 15 Apr 2020 03:28 AM PDT Getting a little tired of the memes that Demon Hunter has no weaknesses or a poorly defined identity. Demon Hunter is all about speed, aggression and agility. The Hearthstone team decided to represent these characteristics in a few forms: a) The Demon Hunter's Face is a very active participant in the game, moreso than any other class in the game. This represents the "in the thick of things" playstyle. These three traits are very well ported from WOW, in my humble opinion. Playing as the Demon Hunter you really feel like you're making a lot of moves every turn. The most fitting Demon Hunter card, in my opinion, is Twin Slice. It's just such a perfectly designed card from an identity point-of-view. Whilst dangerous for the balance in the game, Kayn Sunfury also hits this spot of fantasy neatly. This is also why I like Outcast as the class mechanic. It makes the player premeditate and anticipate future moves, so as to control their hand for maximum results. Furthermore, note how Demon Hunter brought the keyword Rush into the classic/basic sets. There's no class better suited to carry this identity. Furthermore, Demon Hunter is a very pro-active class. This too makes sense. Mages and Priests sit in the backlines waiting for other people to do the heavy lifting. Demon Hunters get in there and start whacking. Demon Hunter has low-cost minions and therefor will always be able to put threats on the board. Minions benefit from Illidan himself attacking, as well. However, the threats Demon Hunter can present are not very diverse. It's either a wider board of small minions (typically with 2 or less health) or a single large creature. This significantly limits the options of what a DH can acchieve with purely minions. We have Demonic Powers, but they come at a cost. The board-clears are two-sided, Metamorphosis is expensive and eats your hero power, Eye Beam is overpriced unless Outcast. Inner Demon is very expensive reach. Now, people can complain about balance all they want, but complaints with regards to Class Identity seem misguided to me. I think the identity of Illidan was translated spot-on and regardless of the strong restrictions Hearthstone as a card game presents, you can play DH and feel like a real demon hunter. Posted: 15 Apr 2020 05:02 AM PDT As someone who started playing almost exactly a year ago, I've ended up really enjoying what hearthstone has to offer. Not just in terms of standard, but arena and especially the solo adventures. Sadly however, a lot of the cards I come across in these latter two formats I can't play with in actual decks because I just don't own them and it would be prohibitively expensive to, which is similar to an experience I had when I first started a year ago. I got a total of three classic packs as a returning player 'reward', since I made the mistake of using the account I'd made in 2015 and logged into once so wasn't able to do the new player ranks to get rewards from those. I loved the solo adventures, and loved the idea of being able to construct my own deck, but was terrified of standard. I remember going into it with the genius plan of using Mirror Image to get cheap minions and then playing Raid Leader into Stormwind Champion to fill my board with absolute value that I was sure my opponents would never be able to withstand. And then I faced a control warrior who killed every minion I ever played with cards that seemed like total bullshit (fucking saved the best for last) and sat there for several turns not killing me despite having lethal on board and just armouring up. So I decided to stop playing the game. Luckily (or unluckily who can say), I popped onto the hearthstone reddit and noticed someone recommending our boi Whizbang to new players. At first the board game player in me was appalled at the inefficiency. Why spend already very limited dust on a card that doesn't actually increase your collection? Then I saw someone mention Zayle, Shadow Cloak (which had decks that were all golden too). I justified paying for Dalaran Heist, as I was super into the solo content, and started trying out some Zayle decks. Suddenly, I was having fun playing constructed. I had decks with actual game plans and legendaries. I was pretty sure Edwin Van Cleef was the most busted thing to have ever existed and I got to play him in golden. It was amazing. So I started saving up gold from quests and daily reward to get Whizbang. This was an awfully slow process. I ended up paying real money for arena games to try and save up the dust. I got to 1200 and couldn't wait anymore, so I disenchanted a legendary that I felt would only fit into control decks that I'd never have the cards / budget for (RIP OG Alexstrasza, I still don't own you and I'm sorry I wasn't good enough to realise what an amazing card you were). But it was okay because it gave me the 1600 dust to craft Whizbang and it was amazing. I finally got to experience every class in the game, with multiple archetypes for each. I played him almost exclusively to rank 10 and at that point I was too invested in the game. I eventually started scrounging together my own decks, and before I knew it had spent over 100 pounds on the game. And it all started with Zayle, Shadow Cloak and Whizbang the Wonderful. Despite the almost daily post asking Blizzard to keep Whizbang in standard, it unfortunately seems clear this was not to be. Which is fine, the new player experience is much, much better now than it used to be. Other than the ranks I missed out on, you get a free deck with multiple legendaries as well as tonnes of free cards from ranking up. But wild mode still has a huge barrier of entry. You have the best of hearthstone across 6 years on offer, and a large number of players simply aren't able to enjoy it as we weren't with the game from the start. Trying to get into that now while also keeping up with standard is completely impossible with the limited budget I'm on, and probably still a huge strain on people in much better financial situations. As a result my experience of wild is limited to arena cards and watching Solem do incredibly stupid but hilarious OTKs on YouTube. So as an alternate suggestion, why not change Whizbang's deck recipes to be for actual wild decks. At the moment he is completely useless (except for the few mad lads who are trying to play his unoptimised standard decks in the wild format). This would enable him to serve a purpose again, giving a way for players who own him to experience the wild format without being hindered by having to have kept up with years of collection building. Maybe it even incentivises more players to get into the format and buy the wild packs that are now helpfully available in the shop, possibly increasing blizzard's revenue with this simple change. But importantly it keeps a wonderful and beloved card alive and gives him a purpose, even if he was not meant to be evergreen. Thank you for coming to my Whizbang talk. [link] [comments]

If you have any questions or comments about the report please let us know. We will be in the comments to answer any questions you may have! HOW TO USE THE META SNAPSHOT The tier list (included below for easy access and distribution) shows the best decks to play in Ranked mode to maximize the chances of winning the game and climbing the ladder. Click on the name of the archetype in each tier to expand more details about the deck. The "Archetype Explanation" section gives a general explanation of the archetype as a whole. It will present playstyle strategies, discuss different variants of the deck, and help you identify the deck on ladder. The "Weekly Meta and Featured Deck" section analyzes the role of the deck in the current snapshot's meta, and focuses in on the nuances of playing the current snapshot's featured deck variant. The "Tech Decision" section suggests card substitution options that you may consider if you are frequently facing a particular type of deck on ladder (i.e., you are being swarmed by aggro, or constantly queue into control decks). The "Match-ups" section gives an approximate average percentage chance that you will win a game when facing another Tier 1 or Tier 2 deck. Click on the "View Deck" button to view in-depth information about the deck, such as the card composition, mana curve, mulligans, and more.
