    Newbie Tuesdays Weekly Discussion

    Posted: 06 Sep 2021 09:01 PM PDT

Hello members of the /r/hearthstone community,

This is part of a series of weekly threads aimed at both new and old players from the community. It is designed so that everybody may ask any and all questions regarding the game's mechanics, decks, strategies and more.

Please keep it clean and try to add more than just a one or two word response. As the goal of this post is to increase the community's knowledge, the thought process matters as much as the answer! There is also a PullsDay Thursday weekly post, for those who want to share their pulled packs.

Kripparrian on why streaming on YouTube is bad business, return to WoW, and what Hearthstone lacks: “I feel there’s not enough attention to maintaining the game: keeping it bug-free, keeping it bot-free. I think too much of the focus is on producing new content”

Kudos to whoever wrote Tamsin's Book of Mercenaries

That final fight was definitely one of the most evil, uncomfortable things I've seen in a game for a while. I'm still not really over it - and that's not a bad thing. The entire story was very well written and engaging, so honestly just great work all around. Between Tamsin's interactions with Guff and the final boss fight, you really felt all the emotional beats they were going for.

It really feels like we've reached a tonal tipping point, so I'm legitimately quite interested to see what happens next. This whole story has definitely been a huge step up in terms of the kind of stories Hearthstone can tell. Truly, we can experience all the epic highs and lows of college football.

Is there a "Nicer" Demon Hunter greeting emote?

    Posted: 07 Sep 2021 09:46 AM PDT

I just want to send a friendly "Hello!" when I start a game and it feels rude to say "Evil draws close!"

I'm a very casual player, strictly Tavern Brawl when premade decks are provided. I've been dabbling with Demon Hunter the past 2 weeks and I'll send a "Greeting" emote and others will send back a "Threaten". I get the feeling they think I'm sending a "Threaten" when I'm just trying to say Hi :(

    Battlegrounds Battle Simulator

    Battlegrounds Battle Simulator

The latest Firestone version now has a full-fledged Battle simulator.

You can now build any boards you want and face them against each other.

The simulator is also available live in-game, and you can prepopulate each side with the boards from any of your past battles

And you can view how each outcome (win/tie/loss) would unfold through the play-by-play viewer online.

That version also comes with a lot of fixes to the simulator, especially for the latest cards. A few simulations are not perfectly handled yet (secrets, insanely big Macaw / Leapfrogger / Baron boards and Scallywag / Baron + Khadgar), but it should be working properly in the vast majority of battles.

As usual, let me know if you have any suggestion, and please keep on reporting bugs :)

An Ode to Book of Mercenaries: Tamsin's Final Encounter

    Posted: 07 Sep 2021 02:37 PM PDT

It's brilliant. That's it. It's not hard, it's not complex. The second-to-last fight against Bolvar was all that.

The fight against Cornelius, however, was the perfect marriage of story and its transformation into gameplay. It's the satisfying result of a comparatively tough chapter and almost feels like a reward in itself.

Kudos to everyone involved at Team 5!
