    Newbie Tuesdays Weekly Discussion

    Posted: 21 Jun 2021 09:01 PM PDT

Hello members of the /r/hearthstone community,

This is part of a series of weekly threads aimed at both new and old players from the community. It is designed so that everybody may ask any and all questions regarding the game's mechanics, decks, strategies and more.

Please keep it clean and try to add more than just a one or two word response. As the goal of this post is to increase the community's knowledge, the thought process matters as much as the answer! There is also a PullsDay Thursday weekly post, for those who want to share their pulled packs.

Started making all of the recipes from the Hearthstone cookbook! It's actually for a group I'm a moderator in, but I've been having a blast doing it. Next week I plan on doing Malfurion's mashed potatoes. Anyone else have the book and enjoy the recipes?

    Me want this

In the new "Book of Heroes" Malfurion, if Illidian kills himself in his turn, dialogue never continues and you get stuck in an awkward staring contest.

Hearthstone needs less power from low cost cards!

    Posted: 22 Jun 2021 07:27 AM PDT

Playing over 300 games past 10 days due to an injury and one thing pops in Standard and Wild Ranked: most of the decks utilize 24-25+ cards that cost 4 or less, especially top popular decks like Face Hunter, Midrange Ele/Aggro Shaman or Pirate Warrior, Secret Mage, Spell Druid, Odd Paladin, Odd DH, OTK DH and etc. viable top decks.

I get game has to be fast and tempo oriented for most viewers, but this is killing the end user experience. Yesterday I wanted to see some Masters games and it was pure RNG (Spell druid OTK in T3 for god sake) or dull games with coin tosses up to top decks as all decks are too power creeped at that point. It's not even entertaining to wait 10 minutes to see which player will draw their 2 cost card with game ending power...

For me it's like a dead end game, sometimes in the year I take the wrong turn, return here, try all modes and leave. The E-sport version is also too dull at the moment.

Was really cool to see this in Malfurion’s adventure as it’s something I’ve always thought was missing from Druid.

I'm talking about Druid shapeshifting forms (image linked in the comments as Imgur is being weird for me for direct uploads).

I'd love to see this implemented in constructed at some point (maybe not in the exact same form, but similar). I feel like this opens up design space for Druid in that you could now make cards that have certain effects based on what form you're currently in.

How the hell do you beat Sylvanas (book of heroes)

    Posted: 22 Jun 2021 11:19 AM PDT

The draws appear to be fixed, so basically you get to create a bunch of 1/1 tokens with no way to actually buff them, so contesting the board is difficult.

Not to mention if you just try and mill her once she gets to 30hp , the boss changes and he gets a brand new deck.

Is it all down to luck with the choices you get from Guidance? or is there a more optimal path that I'm just not seeing...

Hey friends! This is the latest Tempo Storm Wild Hearthstone Meta Snapshot.

We are the team that produces this Snapshot. I'm therottedzombie, Team Lead. This product was written by myself along with ConcernedMOM, KeithNumbersCCG, Memnarch, nhlnjfan1, and WhiteDelight. As always, we were aided along by our amazing Tempo Storm manager, SeijiSoldier.

If you have any questions or comments about the report please let us know. We will be in the comments to answer any questions you may have, and we look forward to positive discussion about the choices in this Snapshot.

HOW TO USE THE META SNAPSHOT

The tier list (included below for easy access and distribution) shows the best decks to play in Ranked mode to maximize the chances of winning the game and climbing the ladder. Click on the name of the archetype in each tier to expand more details about the deck.

The "Archetype Explanation" section gives a general explanation of the archetype as a whole. It will present playstyle strategies, discuss different variants of the deck, and help you identify the deck on ladder.

The "Weekly Meta and Featured Deck" section analyzes the role of the deck in the current snapshot's meta, and focuses in on the nuances of playing the current snapshot's featured deck variant.

The "Tech Decision" section suggests card substitution options that you may consider if you are frequently facing a particular type of deck on ladder (i.e., you are being swarmed by aggro, or constantly queue into control decks).

The "Match-ups" section gives an approximate average percentage chance that you will win a game when facing another Tier 1 or Tier 2 deck.

Click on the "View Deck" button to view in-depth information about the deck, such as the card composition, mana curve, mulligans, and more. The date in the title of the deck is the date on which that variant of the deck was first posted on the Meta Snapshot. If the construction of a deck has not changed since then, the deck may be reused in a future Snapshot. Make sure to scroll down to read the latest discussion on the deck's current role in the meta.

Is it expected that when an enemy concedes it doesn't count as a win in Ranked Mode?

    Posted: 22 Jun 2021 03:09 PM PDT

I had 3 guys concede in a row and yet I didn't gain a single star. Is that expected?

[EDIT]I wrote this as I was playing, since then I had 2 other guys conceding to me, yet I gained no star; I also have that quest "Win 5 Games in Ranked Mode", the reason I am playing ranked at all. I played and won the 5 games, yet the counter shows 0

    [EDIT 2]
I just checked to see if I was playing standard and I am. Should I file a bug report?

Bug Testing: Imprisoned Sungill will trigger Underbelly Anglers effect, but will NOT trigger Firemancer Flurgl's effect, despite both of them having an "after a murloc is played" effect. Befor and after pictures shown below.
