    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 04:08 PM PST

Hello members of the /r/hearthstone community,

This is part of a series of weekly threads aimed at both new and old players from the community. It is designed so that everybody may ask any and all questions regarding the game's mechanics, decks, strategies and more.

Please keep it clean and try to add more than just a one or two word response. As the goal of this post is to increase the community's knowledge, the thought process matters as much as the answer! There is also a PullsDay Thursday weekly post, for those who want to share their pulled packs.

Sticky Threads and Guides - Great resources for new players!

Note: I am a bot. Questions or feedback regarding this thread? Message the moderators.

HI, I just made a meme and I hope they will fix the new system rewards. Now I understand that the new keyword "Corrupt" means.

Not a bandwagoning post, but I find it amusing that I returned to Hearthstone, and then quit it again, in less than a week.

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 07:44 AM PST

I came back to the game for Darkmoon after skipping the last 3 expansions, preordered the mega bundle, all that good stuff.

Seeing the direction Blizzard is taking the game was enough to get me to have the bundle refunded and the game uninstalled.

Inb4 all the 'so brave' posts.

'Twas the night before Darkmoon and nobody cares

We're all sick of Blizzard for hawking their wares

The battlepass came with a sound and a fury

But all that it did was add to our worry

The cards that we'll see are nothing compared

To the sheer greed and spite in which we've been ensnared

So Blizz, 'til you fix this pile of shite

Happy Darkmoon to all, and to all a good night!

Is this weekly a Joke? not just play 4 Arena games, finish a Run with 4 Wins! Why are there Quests for paid modes?

Blizzard is neglecting a game breaking bug. Players losing more than 6000 XP.

A significant number of people are not getting their quests (as you can see in the linked post), and this is the response that i got. ("some digging" = opening a screenshot)

(They linked an article for the old quest system https://support.blizzard.com/article/000018637 )

The screenshot that i sent to the support

This need to be discussed and promoted in the community, if not blizzard probably isn't going to fix this. You could be the next to not get any quest, who knows ?

    https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/hearthstone/t/weekly-quests-issue/45143/14 (bug report)

    Edit: New CS team response

They ignored the bug report thread that i included, these CS member aren't even trying.

At least they know about the issue now, let's hope that they fix it in time.
We need to demand a compensation.

Congrats Blizzard, you've even managed to anger and disappoint the whales

    Posted: 15 Nov 2020 10:31 PM PST

As a player since early 2015, ive always enjoyed hs. I have a job and can afford to spend money buying preorders since i dont spend much money on any other game, i tend to only buy things that grant content beyond cosmetics.

A little background on me that you can skip...

To me, i see packs as content, Hs is still cheaper and more accessible to me than MTG - and other TCGs, so thats why ive played hs for 5 years. Runeterra and games like that only failed to pull me away from Hs because i didn't want to leave my love for the game behind.

I tend to do the Mega Bundle every time, and sometimes the minor bundle as well. And the same thing rings true every time ~120 packs, about 5-8 legendaries out of now 20 total legendaries per expansion... this is something ive accepted since the beginning as the mass disenchant dust from the rares and commons covers crafting many legendaries, and the last few go unused.

    ------ END BACKGROUND info -------

About the Battlepass... im going to use fortnite as an example because their OPTIONAL battlepass for as long as i can remember, is easily maxable with daily play for 20-30min or playing 2hours every 3 days... and the seasons are roughly the same length and generally shorter... lets consider all of the content that goes into that game... its far more than the content per expansion.

Here's the difference for us, this battlepass is MANDATORY! I COULD ONLY IMAGINE HOW LITTLE BACKLASH you would get if you just kept the old system with the daily gold quests and launched the current tavern pass with all of its rewards for $20. I'm willing to bet countless f2p people would buy it, because its simply more affordable than a preorder, has some extra cosmetics are thrown in, aand you get an important statistic up of "Active Players".

Well so why does a whale like me even care? Well even with my spending i still can't play any deck i want when i want. Why dont i spend more? Because outside of pre-orders and discount bundles like the 25 for $15 and such. Packs arent worth my money, just my time.

So when you even insult your whales by saying "hey you, spend even more because we took away your previous rewards" that hurts, a lot and is very dangerous if you ask me (because what is it again? In the f2p model its something like the 20-30% support the other 80-70%?)

Sadly for us, Team 5 can never do what Bungie did with Destiny.

If you've been debating making a post, expressing your own feelings about this. Make it, it should unavoidable for anyone to see these kinds of posts, because when we don't let this die we will prevail.

Edit 1: For those saying im not a whale, im still spending $400 a year on HS... im spending almost 7 times the amount what many AAA game devs farm out of their new game a year style system... and im infinitely more valuable as a customer still than a player who spends no money, and 3x as valuable as a player who does a small bundle per expansion. But its all the same IF YOU SPEND MONEY, you should be treated as a VALUED CUSTOMER.

Edit 2: For those saying whales dont need ingame rewards? Well technically speaking, we don't. Especially the whales twice as large as me, but when we're spending more than $400 a year and not even getting enough perks to get all the earnable rewards from the battlepass? Fuck, no... and we all know damn well that Blizzard would launch an option to buy an unlimited number of battlepass levels to complete it.

Is it easier to earn gold in game or w/ low effort post?

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 12:16 AM PST

At this point Im more concerned about the loss of freedom with my gameplay than I do about gold/rewards.

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 09:01 AM PST

Im not that worried about the loss of golds/packs with this new system as i truly believe that Blizzard will adjust the system as needed , in the end they want the new system to be popular so they can monetize it , so that part doesn't worry me.

What worries me is the lack of freedom ; previously most of the quests were able to be knocked out on just about every mode , worst case scenario you could just do them against a friend running meme decks that lined up with the quests you trying to finish.

Now the weekly quests seem to be more focused on playing specific modes, the only "Tier1" weekly quest requires to WIN , not play 7 ranked matches and has no reroll alternate , how does that line up with a game that actually has churned 2 new game modes recently that seem to be booming (im not a bg or duels player but both game modes seem to attract a lot of attention going by twitch views) im willing to bet there are players out there that would take a "Tier2" weekly over this one and just miss on that extra xp since they dont play ranked.

Some of the "Tier2" weeklies require other game modes , like getting a good finisher in BG or Arenas.

With the old system i know a good portion of players would grab their daily quest, reroll as needed and wait to complete them once they had 3 quests , only actually playing ranked when they wanted (sometimes in bursts over few days). Now i would have to split my grinding over the weeks in order to kick the ranked weekly which for me is not optimal.

Those players that might only play BGs could probably get around not doing the quests if they dont want to but both Arena and Duels players want to get the quests rewards , duels to improve their collections and arena to get more gold for tickets.

I understand that Blizzard is looking for more engagement , looking for players to log more often and more time but i truly believe that even after they "fix" whatever they have to adjust on the reward track the players will end up a bit worse on how we play this game.

Dont get me wrong , i dont think this is the biggest of deals but on this uproar about the rewards themselves i think these details might get overlooked.

    Sadness at DarkMoon Faire

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 01:26 PM PST

Tomorrow we are getting new expansion. I was so hyped about the theme like many others. But now... I dont know man. We did not deserve this. Especially we did not deserve this in this fucking year.

See you tomorrow guys, and hopefully see you in later expansions.
