PullsDay Thursday: Post Your Popped Packs Posted: 13 May 2020 05:07 PM PDT Greetings Travellers, This is a new weekly thread to showcase your crazy or unlucky pack openings, for F2P players and whales alike! The goal of this thread is to draw discussion around pack openings into a centralized post every week, so that players have a dedicated place to share their pulls. Whether you got a sweet Tavern Brawl reward or Arena chest, we want to see it! You can also post in /r/HSPulls. Pack Openings are still relegated to a megathread on the first day of a new expansion Note: I am a bot. Questions or feedback regarding this thread? Message the moderators. [link] [comments]

I hit Legend Completely Free to Play in 5 days, here are my findings! Posted: 13 May 2020 04:14 AM PDT Hey everyone Zeddy here, I recently saw a tweet by LiquidOx, a fellow Hearthstone streamer, where he made a new F2P (free to play) account and climbed to legend in just four days and decided to give it a go myself. The F2P Challenge basically meant we cannot use any money to buy packs, and we are not allowed to play Demon Hunter. I replicated his feat in five days of streaming, I've documented it on my YouTube channel starting here and found the process to be quite interesting and thought I'd share some of my discoveries. Apprentice Ranks are an Amazing Resource When you start a new account you start at Apprentice Rank 40. These ranks go from 40 to 1 before you eventually hit Bronze 10. Each rank has three stars and you can earn win streaks meaning if you win three in a row you gain two stars for each win as is seen on regular ladder. You can choose to skip these ranks if you want, simply going into the settings you can find under miscellaneous the option to skip the feature and go straight to Bronze 10. However you probably don't want to do that. Why? Well first every 5 ranks you complete you are rewarded with 3 classic packs. This is an awesome boost to your starting collection as you gain 21 packs through this process which is a significant amount of cards and potential dust. Myself I opened two legendaries, Brightwing and Onyxia, and not only did they make good dust later, they were quite helpful in building a good Basic Mage Deck. I highly recommend not crafting any cards until you complete the Apprentice Ranks as I will mention later you are rewarded with some pretty good stuff that will probably shape the way you want to craft cards later. Demon Hunter is Insane If you think Demon Hunter is strong on regular ladder, you haven't seen what it's like on Apprentice Ladder. The Initiate Set is leagues ahead of any of the basic/classic cards that you will see in every other class. If you're starting a new F2P account just play Demon Hunter as you will clean up even if you have very little idea of what you're doing. I'm someone who's been Rank 1 Legend and I was getting destroyed by players who were double twin slicing me on turn 1 with a coined out hero power. It is absolutely crazy strong which can make any new player feel like a king. This may end up being a bit of a problem going forward but as the dev team continue to evaluate Demon Hunter and its eventual classic set hopefully the class disparity won't be so huge at the F2P level. Free Deck at Bronze 10 The crucial part to my success at hitting legend in such a short period of time with an approximate 70% win rate with Rogue from Bronze 10 to Legend was the free deck you are offered a new player once you hit Bronze 10. The two best decks offered by far are the Rogue and Mage decks, the rogue one being a galakrond rogue deck that includes Kronx, Toggwaggle, and Edwin, and the mage one being a highlander mage deck that includes Reno the Relicologist, Zephrys, and Dragonqueen Alexstrasza. However for my purpose of hitting legend quickly I noted that Reno the Amazing, which is core to Reno Mage, as well as regular Alexstrasza and new Malygos are not included and would be too expensive to craft or unlock as Reno the Amazing is locked behind the fourth wing of Galakrond's Awakening. I simply disenchanted a bunch of cards from my Apprentice Ranks and was able to craft this Galakrond Secret Rogue with Flik and Hanar being the major crafts. Within a mere 10 hours of playing as a F2P player I already had a Tier 1 netdeck with 5 legendaries, imagine that 5 years ago, that would have been impossible. The Legend Climb Surprisingly during your Apprentice Rank climb you're actually awarded a star multiplier based on your performance. I was given a 6 star bonus which ran out at Gold 5 and my goodness is it a grind once that's gone. Shortly after my bonus ran out I had a 25-1 stretch which put me from Gold 4 to Platinum 4. To put that into perspective if I had an 11x bonus at Bronze 10 I would've hit legend before even hitting the 25 win mark. This isn't a complaint mind you, just an observation of how effective it is to get that 11x star bonus and is a very nice reward to those legend finishers who have proved they belong amongst the top. Just be prepared for a hell of a grind as it took me around 112 Rogue wins to finish the climb which took me around 22 hours to complete. Unfortunately deck tracker went down on the last day so I can't share final stats but I estimate our win rate was around 65-70% if you're looking for something to reference. My Final Impressions Overall I was blown away by how much the F2P experience has improved. You're constantly rewarded with goodies as you level up in Apprentice, given amazing resources with the free decks, and are constantly given more stuff for hitting first time ranks as well as end of season rewards as you hit each rank floor. I wish all of this stuff was around when I first started playing around GvG but I'm thrilled that it's around for new players that hop onto Hearthstone today. If you're looking to start as a F2P player, there's never been a better time than now. [link] [comments]
Tavern Brawl this week is... "Battle of the Bans" (May 13, 2020) Posted: 13 May 2020 09:20 AM PDT Description: "Pick four cards. Your opponent will BAN one of them, then we'll make you a deck full of the cards remaining." Format: Wild Constructed, but with a "four card" deck with one card banned by your opponent. Good news DH fans, that class is allowed in this one. Also note that some cards are pre-banned and cannot be selected. They include but are not limited to:
(Please help me crowdsource this list; if you see Card X or Y is banned, please let me know in the comments.) Reward: one Classic pack for your first win. History: This is the third time we've seen this format; the first time was exactly like this weeks in March 2019, and the second time was Brawliseum with Battle of the Bans rules, conducted last November. Here's the Gamepedia article about the first time, and here's the thread for that event. Good luck & have fun! [link] [comments]

A mini-guide to Zephrys the Great. Posted: 13 May 2020 01:50 PM PDT Zephrys has a particular order of prioritization when recommending cards to you. Too many people expect Zephrys to be a silver bullet, a get-out-of-jail-free-card, that bails them out of any bad scenario. Here is the layman's overview of what Zephrys prioritizes.
So next time you play our boy Zephrys the Great, remember what HE is looking for. Getting Zephrys to offer silences instead of outright dealing with a threat is possible, but you'll need to make clear to Zephrys that you want the transformation, not the efficient tempo option. My Tavern Brawl Deck Adventure! Posted: 13 May 2020 01:42 PM PDT So, this tavern brawl is one of my favorite of all tavern brawls, and in this post I an going to share decks for each class (that I thought of) Ok, so first off, Warrior. Drywhisker Armorer Armorsmith Risky Skipper Shield Block The strategy is to gain a ton of armor with all of these pieces, obviously. Pretty self explanatory. Next: Shaman Evolve Desert Hare Dopplegangster Thrall, Deathseer (can be replaced by other evolve cards) Your normal evolve shaman. Rogue Backstab Jade Swarmer Jade Shuriken Jade Spirit Rogue Jades! Paladin (I could not think of a great one with the cards I have) Smuggler's Run Shotbot Mechwarpee Shielded Minibot Hunter Play Dead Devilsaur Egg NecroMechanic Any Egg card (I chose Al'ar) OR Scavenger's Ingenuity, Zixor, Apex Predator Augmented Porcupine Mok'nathal Lion Druid (I could not win with this) Innervate Biology Project Two Big Minions (I chose Ragnaros and Gruul, the Golden God of Hearthstone) Warlock (I actually have a year old post showing this one) Gnomeferatu Defile The Darkness Siphon Soul Mage Font of Power Magic Trick Ray of Frost Frostbolt Priest Blazing Battlemage Twilights Call Convincing Infiltrator Al'ar Demon Hunter Twin Slice Chaos Strike Eye Beam Altruis the Outcast Thanks for reading if you did! Also, sorry for any formatting issues, I am on mobile. Tell me if there are any typos or if you have any questions! [link] [comments]
