    Hearthstone 17.0 Hotfix Update

    17.0 Hotfix Update

    Posted: 27 Mar 2020 04:40 PM PDT

We are currently in the process of putting out a few hotfixes for issues introduced after the 17.0 update. Please note that these fixes take place on the server side, so you should not need to download anything if you've updated to 17.0.

    • We've identified and fixed an issue that could cause the game to fail to offer some eligible players the Returning Player Experience. Affected players should now receive the appropriate quest line when logging into Hearthstone.
    • Whizbang the Wonderful will no longer offer decks with cards that have moved to the Hall of Fame.
    • Kingsbane will now correctly be destroyed and shuffled into your deck when it reaches 0 durability.
    • Living Root, when disenchanted, now properly gives the amount of dust of a common instead of an epic. However, its gem rarity will not be updated until Monday (3/30).
    • Invoke cards will now no longer appear from cards that generate other cards.
    • Clever Disguise will now correctly function as intended when played.

This coming Monday (3/30), we're planning to deploy a data-only patch that addresses a couple more issues:

    • Darkness Awaits will no longer be incorrectly marked as collectible in the Collection.
    • Basic cards will no longer be incorrectly earned from Arena rewards.
    • Living Root's gem rarity will be corrected from Epic to Common.

There are several known issues that will self-resolve on 4/7 when the Demon Hunter and Ashes of Outland unlock:

    • Felfin Navigator will correctly appear in the Battlegrounds minion pool.
    • The Battlegrounds Perks button will correctly function as intended when clicked.
    • The new Priest cards will correctly appear in the Arena card pool.
    • Demon Hunter Initiate cards will no longer be granted by completing Galakrond's Awakening Chapters.
    • Hallucination and Blink Fox will work correctly when played against Demon Hunter in Practice Mode.
    • Curious Glimmerroot will no longer cause client crashes when played against Demon Hunter in Practice Mode.
    • The Search Bar in the Collection will correctly function as intended, and will no longer jump to the top of the screen.

Additionally, there are a few Boomsday Project Puzzles that can no longer be completed now because of card changes introduced in 17.0. We're planning to deploy a fix for Boomsday Project Puzzles on April 9.

We are investigating several other reports and will keep you posted as we know more. We'd like to thank everyone for their patience while we get some of these bugs squashed!

My son can never beat me with LEEROY again!!!

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 10:32 AM PDT

I posted here a while back that I learned to play Hearthstone so my 15 y/o son and I had a solid connection point. Ended up loving the game, and we play a lot. My favorite card that he hates (Knife Juggler), and his favorite was Leeroy.

Ok you guys, he beat me with Leroy no less than 10 times (just in this last week). He loves how mad it makes me and of course always waits until I'm at 6 or less to play him.

He came running into my room the other day to show me Leeroy went to HOF! Yes!!!!! Goodbye forever Leeroy, your reign of terror is over.

Of course my son is fast and furiously trying to create something to beat my Warlock Galakrond deck (which is built around Knife Juggler) - maybe not the smartest but sooo fun to use against my son.

This post is probably of no actual value to any of you, but I'm a mom so none of my friends have any idea what I'm talking about. Therefore I am celebrating with you!

PS. I just added Rafaam's Scheme, that's the BEST card ever when KJ is out. Hearthstone is so fun.

While we’re doing request ... please let us gild cards.

Upgrading a legendary to golden should cost 1600 dust, not 2800. Change my mind.

Anyone else constantly getting 50g quests?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 08:31 AM PDT

Ever since the new patch, I have only gotten 50g quests when I log in. When I try to reroll them, I keep getting a 50g quest afterwards as well. I thought that not too long ago, a change was made so that a 50g always rerolls into a 60g one. Did something change? Or am I getting terrible luck?

    Calculating effect of duplicate protection

    Calculating effect of duplicate protection

Hey all, I have calculated how many packs one needs to open in order to have the whole collection for a typical set. I have taken the frequency of finding different rarity of cards from the hearthstone pack statistics. For simplicity, I have ignored golden cards altogether. The frequency of golden cards is ~2% and they yield 4x rewards, so I would roughly estimate the number of packs to be 6% less if disenchanting golden cards was also considered.

Given 1000 simulations each, how many simulations opened exactly that many packs

So, according to the above graph the expected number of packs you need to open to get the whole collection went from 340 to 280, which is approximately 17.5% decrease in the cost of the game, when measured in terms of value per pack. Note, that this percentage is only applicable directly to those who wish to assemble the whole collection. If you only care to have like 2-3 playable decks, the effect is significantly lower. If you only open like 100 packs, you do not saturate epics and legendaries, so the probability of getting doubles there is not that high. So for most people the only real effect of this is that they will likely need to craft rares and commons much less frequently.

If anybody cares, I can share the code in Python

21 New decks for Ashes of Outland

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 05:00 AM PDT

Hey everyone! My name is Funki Monki and I'm an off-meta homebrew deck builder. Each season I climb to legend with my own off meta creations and give them to you all in hopes of shaking up the meta. With Ashes of Outland right around the corner and a new rotation happening, the meta is going to be quite different so I wanted to share with you guys 21 (2 for each class + 3 for DH) viable theorycraft decks to try on day 1! While making these decks, I tried to create something new and unique rather than updating existing decks like Galakrond Rogue/Warrior, Res Priest, etc. Deck codes and dust cost can all be found in the links (they redirect to the decklist on hstopdecks). Enjoy!

    Demon Hunter:

    Hunter:

    Druid:

    Mage:

    Paladin:

    Priest:

    Rogue:

    Shaman:

    Warlock:

    Warrior:

I hope you guys enjoy some of these decks! Let me know what decks you're planning on playing on day on 1 of Ashes of Outland!
