I think Blizzard might have forgotten what makes gacha so popular.

The current state of the shop needs an overhaul. This would fix the skin bundle experience. Does this annoy anyone else?

In light of the recent balance issues, I just want to point back to the extremely successful Watch Post nerf

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 07:46 AM PDT

When Watch Posts launched, they were infuriating and overtuned and it ruined the game. When they got nerfed a lot of people thought 1 health wasn't enough, but then when people started playing post-nerfs the Watch Posts were basically gone. But as things developed, they made it back into decks, and it turned out they were good! They weren't too difficult to deal with and no longer felt overbearing to face on curve, but they were still effective and worth playing. You see Watch Posts in decks still in this meta. They aren't everywhere, but they are still good in and against certain decks: and ideal power level for a card!

My point is that Team 5 prints cards that piss everyone off and ruin the game sometimes, but it's something they recognize and work to fix. We've seen multiple times that minor changes can make a huge difference, and that they are capable of nudging cards into balance regardless of how mad they make or made the players.

This was just kind of a random shower thought I had about the continuing nudges to the Stormwind meta. When you face something now that pisses you off, try to remember how obnoxious Watch Posts were and how they are now and try to have a little faith in the devs.

Sidenote: The devs probably aren't the ones who decide on prices and monetization, so if that's what you're mad at, that isn't really who I'm talking about in this post.

    Hearthstone after last update

Just played a game of the new battlegrounds update. Here's a summary.

A new way to suicide in Battlegrounds

So I'm in the top 3 of playing as Master Nguyen with a full board of demons. I get Shudderwock's power and pick it for the extra buffs. When I play the Shudderling it repeats all my soul devourer battlecries except all they do is delete my board leaving me with 3 minions and 10 gold. GG

I don't think it's unreasonable to request that more than one constructed format to be curated and balanced.

    Posted: 01 Sep 2021 09:32 PM PDT

I have seen several people comment that Wild is not meant to be balanced, that it was always going to be a clown show, etc. -- this is intended to explain why Wild players should not complain that their format is (at present) a clown show. After all, they warned you!

And I have some sympathy for this position, as it is true that Blizzard made clear from the beginning that the format would not be especially well curated. They've stepped in occasionally, but only in dire emergencies (I would call the present condition a dire emergency, but that's another matter).

With that said, I'm not sure what these people expect the constructed players who don't enjoy standard to do. In Magic, if you don't enjoy present day standard (and lots don't), you can play other constructed formats like modern, legacy, vintage, pioneer, etc. Lots of options! And all of these modes are, to some extent, curated and balanced over time.

If I am a Hearthstone player who likes constructed card games but who does not enjoy standard, what do these people suggest I play? Is the position that standard will be the only constructed format ever curated or balanced in any meaningful way? Because if that's the case, it really feels like they're saying that I'm not welcome in Hearthstone.

Warlock needs to sacrifice tempo for healing.

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 02:42 AM PDT

Right now every time it heals it also deals damage or removes something from the board. It's stupid that they get to do everything with 1 card.
