    Forged In The Barrens Lightforge Podcast Arena Review: The Watch Post Meta

    Hi guys,

    With the upcoming release of Forged in the Barrens, fellow multiple time Arena leaderboard player /u/adwcta and I just finished up an 8-hour marathon Arena review of the expansion on YouTube. This is the first expansion where we did not need to calculate scores for a tier list, so we switched up our scoring system:

    S Tier: This tier is reserved for a small handful of cards that we consider absolutely broken. Examples include Runaway Blackwing and Expendable Performers

    A Tier: This tier is reserved for cards that are so good they disproportionately impact the game like Twin Tyrant and Flamestrike

    B Tier: This tier is reserved for cards that are considered very good cards like Stoneskin Basilisk and Blessing of Kings

    C Tier: This tier is reserved for average cards like Chillwind Yeti and Arcane Intellect

    D Tier: This tier is reserved for below average cards like Southsea Captain and Sprint

    F Tier: This tier is reserved for the absolute worst cards in Arena that you should never pick

    Top 4 Neutrals in Forged in the Barrens:

    Mor'shan Watch Post: (S TIER) – This card will make people rage quit Arena. The power level of a Twin Tyrant mixed with the snowball potential of a Vicious Fledgling. For 3 mana, you are getting a 3/5 body that puts immediate pressure onto your opponent. Not being able to attack is not a drawback if your opponent is forced to deal with it (see Tar Creeper). Although the Arena meta has changed over the years, games are still won and lost by playing minions onto the board. Games will devolve into whether you had an appropriate answer when Watch Post is played…if you don't, you'll find yourself queueing up a new run very soon.

    Venomous Scorpid: (A TIER) – an Emperor Cobra that discovers a spell. Huge value.

    Southsea Scoundrel: (A TIER) – 4 mana for a 5/5 body is already great…but add on a beneficial effect and this card is insane. If you do not need to discover an answer, simply pick a harmless card for both you and your opponent. But in the instances where you absolutely need an AoE or removal, that card will be exponentially more valuable for you than your opponent.

    Primordial Protector: (A TIER) – For a late game card, this provides everything you want. Tons of split stats and card draw.

    The Caravan Calamity:

    From the other Arena reviews that I've seen, it seems like a lot of fellow Arena players aren't worried about the 2 mana Caravan cards…you should be. Much like the Mor'shan Watch Post, Caravan cards have the potential to single handedly blow out the game for a measly 2 mana. The main culprits are Soldier's Caravan (A TIER), Prospector's Caravan (C+ TIER), and Soothsayer's Caravan (C+ TIER). Caravans will survive more often than naysayers expect them to survive, and most of them only have to trigger once to get huge value. 2 drops should not have the potential to single handedly snowball into a win. Fear the Caravans.

    Don't do your weekly and daily missions today!

    If you want to level up faster on tomorrow's new reward track.

    You got 2 1750 and 1 2500 weekly missions. this is 6k of experience. Also high chances you got a 1000 experience daily mission, and probably will get another tomorrow. That's 8k experience in total.

    Finishing these quests today, you're getting 4 levels on reward track (considering you reached lvl 50 already).Tomorrow, these 8k will be enough to raise you up from level 0 to lvl 24, as stated on hearthstone reward track chart.

    So saving the missions for tomorrow, you're getting 550 gold, 3 barrens pack, 1 phoenix pack, 1 random epic and legendary,golden copies from venomous scorpid, peon, hog rancher,morshan watch post and burning blace acolyte, and a card back. Way much better than the 200 gold from 4 levels today.

    -Also, save your barren's achievments for tomorrow-
