    Newbie Tuesdays Weekly Discussion

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 05:08 PM PDT

Hello members of the /r/hearthstone community,

This is part of a series of weekly threads aimed at both new and old players from the community. It is designed so that everybody may ask any and all questions regarding the game's mechanics, decks, strategies and more.

Please keep it clean and try to add more than just a one or two word response. As the goal of this post is to increase the community's knowledge, the thought process matters as much as the answer! There is also a PullsDay Thursday weekly post, for those who want to share their pulled packs.

Sticky Threads and Guides - Great resources for new players!

Note: I am a bot. Questions or feedback regarding this thread? Message the moderators.

I’m one for making Blastmaster Boom tell you how many bombs are in your opponent’s deck, like [[Soulciologist Malicia]].

Suggestion: change "Whenever you cast a spell" to "Whenever you play a spell", to distinguish it from effects like Puzzle Box or Tortollan Pilgrim

It feels like a waste that this wasn't made a dual-class card with Warlock, since Warlock is being pushed into big demons with Archwitch Willow

Tavern Brawl this week is ... "Who's the Boss Now?" (Aug. 12, 2020)

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 09:26 AM PDT

Description: "Dungeon bosses want to help you play! Build your own deck but get a random boss power. Each time you use it, get a new one!"

    Chalkboard

Format: Constructed / Wild (including Demon Hunter decks)

Reward: one Classic pack for your first win

History: This is the third time we've seen this format, though both of the other times date back to 2015. Here's the Gamepedia article about this format.

    Good luck & have fun!

I love the mind games with Jandice Barov

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 11:15 AM PDT

The most obvious choice is usually to make the minion with less health be the illusion but I've found that in most cases it's actually correct to chose the other one because your opponent is thinking the same thing as you. I just won a game where I chose the higher health minion and I literally only won because the mage used their ping on the smaller minion and then couldn't kill either. I hope blizzard adds more cards like this to the game because they're imo quite skill testing

    Deathrattle is real

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 09:22 AM PDT

Don't know if I'm really behind on this fact but I just found out that Deathrattle is a real thing that happens to people before death! 😳 It's when fluid or mucus starts to build up in the lungs and the person starts to sound like an engine "rattling" and it gets really loud then goes back down right before they die. Hence the name "Deathrattle". Idk I just found that interesting because I thought it was just a hearthstone term. Lol

META: Are memes allowed on this subreddit or not?

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 12:01 PM PDT

Because I'm confused. There are a number of memes on the front page right now. Clearly some memes are ok. Yet somehow, this post was removed because

We do not allow meme pictures, screenshots of rage conversations, or game screenshots that don't show actual gameplay interaction.

"Well it's because it uses a well known meme format that's why"

Sure, but that doesn't explain why this post or this post or any of the other hundreds of memes that have hit the front page as of late that use popular meme formats.

"Well it's because it was a low effort meme"

Virtually all memes posted here are low effort. Even the ones I posted above. That still doesn't distinguish the one that got removed from the ones that haven't been removed.

But more to the point, the entire rule for Image submissions seems to be entirely out of date. It's not being enforced regularly and thus not being enforced with consistency. Effectively defeating the point of it being a rule in the first place

Nozdormu bug is not funny anymore. 6 years since beta they can't fix it.

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 01:24 PM PDT

Title. There are many Druids nowadays and Nozdormu-Portal interaction is the most toxic thing in the game. Losing games at legend because of nor skill, nor deck, nor build, nor luck, nor random but the bug is unacceptable! Since there are many druids, I lost several games bacause of it. But today I completly skipped my turn even I had an answer. Not even 1-2 seconds - full skip. What the hell, Blizzard?

I just found out this card existed. It might be actually pretty cool with Polkelt+high mana dragons, or with that new mage/rogue potion thingy, it might be new era of Mill Rogue!
