Voice actors should be credited for cards

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 09:35 AM PDT

It continues to baffle me that voice acting is never credited by Blizzard.

The official Hearthstone card API has a property for card artist, but not voice actor. I feel like this is a big omission as card sounds are a huge part of what makes this game unique.

I think this data should be shared and as such I implore Blizzard to consider adding the data to the official API and letting everyone know who voiced their favourite card art.

    Thanks

Interesting argument for a Graveyard mechanic - Article on BlizzardWatch

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 09:46 AM PDT

    Full link: https://blizzardwatch.com/2020/07/03/hearthstone-graveyard-mechanic-priest/

    Summary:

The graveyard, whatever name you want to give it (hint, hint: Shadowlands), could be the class-defining mechanic for the Shadow side of the Priest class — much like the Black color decks in Magic: The Gathering. Shadow has nearly lost its place in the Priest toolbox ever since Blizzard decided that it shouldn't deal direct damage anymore. A few mind-control effects still exist, but those have the potential to be as frustrating as resurrection mechanics. There are certainly other avenues to explore that ensure healthier, more fun mechanics.

If resurrect worked in this more limited fashion, it would no longer be used solely for crazy, game-defining, rage-inducing combos. Instead, it would play into the core Priest fantasy of buffing minions. You would make your minions stronger, and then you would keep bringing them back, perhaps still buffed, to keep fighting. It would be a fairer approach to the resurrection fantasy.

Other classes, like Warlock, could also benefit from it: it would go perfectly well with their Discard mechanic (which has always seemed promising, but never quite worked). There would be plenty of interesting possibilities for other classes as well, especially those that have resurrect-like effects in World of Warcraft (Shaman, Paladin, Druid), or are related to otherwordly realms such as the Emerald Dream. But it should be a Priest mechanic, first and foremost.

I feel like this might be an interesting avenue for Hearthstone to explore. It might make Priests less frustrating to play against, give a nice new identify for their Shadow side, open up design space for classes other than Priest, and simply benefit the game as a whole, with an entire new game area, full of brand new possibilities to explore.

Idea. The new game mode in Hearthstone. Battle Royale Arena!

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 03:03 AM PDT

Idea. The new game mode in Hearthstone. Battle Royale Arena!

Imagine. 32 players. Each player makes his deck as in the arena, but there are only 10 cards in the deck. It takes only 5 minutes to complete the deck. Then the players fight in pairs. 16 winners add 5 more cards to their decks (by the same scheme) and again fight among themselves. This continues until there is one winner left. In the final battle between two players, each player has 35 cards.

Pros: new game mode. Short battles at the beginning (total of 10 cards).

Cons: players are forced to wait until the rest of the players finish their battles.

What do you say about this. Could this be interesting?

Possible bugged interaction between Humility and Amani Berserker

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 07:47 AM PDT

I had an Amani Berserker on board and pinged it with an Augmerchant to make it 5/2 with divine shield. Opponent played Humility on the Berserker (which was generated by Zephrys, if that matters), which dropped its attack to a static 1.

I was under the impression that the Berserker's base attack should become 1 and the keyword formerly known as enrage should continue offering +3 attack (since it was still damaged), thus giving it 4 attack.

Am I missing something here or is this a bugged interaction?

The thing that irritates me the most about card-backs

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 05:13 AM PDT

I can understand that the hero portraits may be more expensive to make (voice-acting, unique particle effects) so there is an incentive for blizzard to keep them behind a paywall or to have to take part in special promotions. But why are we not able to acquire old card-backs through some way and potentially have a full card back collection? Like instead of receiving a classic pack in every tavern brawl we could receive one old card back that we don't own. Or it could be like an achievement "Win 10 tavernbrawls this week and receive an old cardback"

There are some amazing designs that I will never own because I started the game later. I hope they rework this in the upcoming achievement rework.
