A bad minion who could find a new home in BGs. The gold variant could even have Mega-Windfury!

Too much card generation. In small portion it's exciting, but if you overdose it, it kills strategy.

    Hello Armor Druid

I think I've found it. Shadowmoon Valley should be the upcoming expansion. Everything adds up.

So... I was thinking... Could the second expansion also be in the game as a card back? I was kinda thinking that Shadowmoon Valley cardback has a kinda similar color spectrum.

My TED Talk on why The Ship (or summon damage) is broken and thoughts on how to fix it

    Posted: 02 Jul 2020 04:40 AM PDT

I hate posts with longass introductions so instead I am directly going into the point.

    Data Points

    • We have 14 pirates in the game at the moment.

    Tier 1: Scally (2/1) and Swabbie (2/2)

Tier 2: Captain and Gambler (both 3/3)

    Tier 3: Yohoho (2/8), Salty (3/3) and Cannoneer (4/2)

    Tier 4: Strongarm (5/4), Goldgrubber (2/2) and Ripsnarl (3/4)

    Tier 5: Seabreaker (6/7), Pagle (8/5) and Hogarr (6/6)

    Tier 6: Eliza (6/7)

    • In this post, damage means minion damage that can be inflicted to other minions and endgame damage is the damage at the end of the fight, coming from the stars of the remaining minions.
    • 10 out of 14 pirates are 3* or more.
    • Half of the pirates are 4* or more.
    • Star average of all pirates is 48/14 = 3.42
    • Stat average of all pirates is 4/4.14 (56/58 is the total stat if you add up their attacks and hps)
    • On average, ship summons 10 stars (10.26 to be exact) worth of pirates when it dies.
    • On average, ship summons 12/12 (12/12.42 to be exact) stats of pirates when it dies. Note that this is raw stats, wtihout adding card texts like buffs or bonus chests. This is on vacuum. Most of the time, the value is better than a textless Deathwing.
      • 4 out of 14 pirates will buff your other pirates.
        • 1 out of those 4 pirates will even buff your entire board.
      • 1 out of 14 pirates can summon a random golden minion for you.
      • Only 3 of them would count as trash drops, stat wise. Scally, Swabbie and Goldgrubber which have 5 or less total stats.
    • When a ship dies, the chance to summon a 2*+ card is 6/7.
      • Why this is important? Because if the ship summons three 2*+ cards, its endgame damage is retained with a high chance to be improved.
      • When a ship dies, it will deal at least 6 endgame damage 63% of the time (62.9% to be exact)
    • When a ship dies, the chance to summon a 3*+ card is 5/7.
    • When a ship dies, the chance to summon a 4*+ card is 50%.

    Discussion

    • The ship is the HS equivalent of a knocking out punch. When you kill it near the end of the fight (it is often the situation because most of the players put the ship in the rightest slot to, you know, hit hard) you are really in some serious trouble.
      • You can counter me with something like "well it is 6 star card it is predestined to be powerful" but that's not also the point. There's fair power and there's unfair power. Zapp can be counted as both powerful and fair because you CAN counter it. There's no way for me to counter or even influence the outcomes of the ship. Even praying won't make a cut.
    • When we compare ship to its rivals at turn 6, the ship is almost always better than imp mama in summoning power. You can at most get 2 sumons from imp momma, which are taunted so they die easily.
      • Comparing to ghastcoiler is tough because there's too much RNG is involved with ghastcoiler's chain of deathrattles so a computer simulation is needed to show its efficiency. But at the face value, ship summons 3 while ghasty summons 2. Ship is better on endgame damage while ghasty is more likely to be better in the fight.
    • Speaking on average, a 6 star minion spawning 10 star worth of minions is not ok. This level of swinginess leads to frustrating situations in the end game where a few damage points can already decide your run.
      • Dying because your board being weak is OK. Dying because RNG is not.
      • Going strong in the late game and knocking out after a surprise pirate party from a lucky tavern 5 triple is not fun. It is super frustrating and I believe everyone who reads this would understand what I mean.
    • If your comp needs a specific 6 drop and you couldn't hit it with a triple, ship is an autopick.
    • If someone that have access to hsreplay premium can chip in with the ship data, it would be great.
    • If someone with time and python knowledge can simulate the outcomes of the ship, that'd be golden.

    What can be done?

    • Reducing summon damage to 1. (Yeah right?)
    • Give taunt to summoned pirates (so we don't have to deal with pesky chests from a surprise Pagle)
    • Give us a tech card with "Deathratte: Silence an enemy deathrattle minion"
    • Or you can give us a tech card that reads "Deathrattles won't activate when this is on the battlefield"
    • Or give us ANY deathrattle tech cards. ANY.

    What do you think?

TLDR: Ship bad. Hits too much. Either nerf ship or summon damage.

    edit: grammar

This new tavern brawl checks all the boxes

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 05:51 PM PDT

Unique cards? Check. Unique decks? Check. They aren't even that far from unfeasible? Double check. Unique heroes? Check. They're multi-class? Double check. Unique emotes? Check there too.

I'm seriously impressed with this brawl. Honestly, I'm kind of sad it's temporary - I think something like this could make for it's own game mode. It's got different heroes, classes, archetypes, and mechanics and takes away deckbuilding, which makes it less nuanced but much more accessible. This with a rotating boss pool would honestly be a fantastic permanent addition to the game and also wouldn't be that hard to implement with the massive pool of bosses from past adventures to pull from.

I always look forward to these boss-centric brawls, and this is definitely one of the best in terms of effort and execution.

You know it's well thought out when you pull off an OTK with psych split and [Dread Raven] of all cards. Thank you Blizzard for showing me this glorious combo and I look forward to seeing what the other heroes, weapons, and unique cards have to offer!

I think that there should be a hearthstone Classic

    Posted: 02 Jul 2020 04:04 PM PDT

Just like classic wow hearthstone should have a dedicated classic server where people like me liked the old hearthstone better.

Don't get me wrong I love battlegrounds and they did great great things with adventures.

    But wouldn't it be cool?

    I'd pay fat stacks tbh..

    What do you guys think?

I dont get why they introduce this characters to the game but waste the chance of making them collectable cards. A meme FelFire Ragnaros card would have added so much identity and excitement to the event.
