    Newbie Tuesdays Weekly Discussion

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 04:08 PM PST

Hello members of the /r/hearthstone community,

This is part of a series of weekly threads aimed at both new and old players from the community. It is designed so that everybody may ask any and all questions regarding the game's mechanics, decks, strategies and more.

Please keep it clean and try to add more than just a one or two word response. As the goal of this post is to increase the community's knowledge, the thought process matters as much as the answer! There is also a Theorycrafting Thursday weekly post, for those who wish to discuss some of the more intricate aspects of the game.

Sticky Threads and Guides - Great resources for new players!

Note: I am a bot. Questions or feedback regarding this thread? Message the moderators.

Day 5, Hearthstone still broken on mobile.

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 11:49 AM PST

Android Moto E4. Tried every possible fix, still crashes on load. Anyone else having issues? I've spent too much money on this game to not be able to play it.

Blizzard had an annual decrease of $572M in net bookings driven by lower net bookings from Hearthstone and World of Warcraft (source: SEC filing)

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 07:05 AM PST

Activision-Blizzard recently published their annual report for 2019 filed to the SEC.

They mention that in 2019, Blizzard experienced a $572 million decrease net bookings "primarily driven by (1) lower net bookings from Hearthstone and (2) overall lower net bookings from World of Warcraft expansion and in-game content sales, primarily due to World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, which was released in August 2018, with no comparable release in 2019 (although net bookings from subscriptions increased due to the release of World of Warcraft Classic in August 2019)"

Furthermore, Blizzard had an annual decrease in monthly active users due to "lower average MAUs for Hearthstone and Overwatch, partially offset by higher average MAUs for World of Warcraft."

Took a break from Battlegrounds to play a few games in Standard and this is the first matchup I get. Guess Battlegrounds is my best friend now.

Finally finished every level of the Tombs of Terror with every characters, every deck, every power and every treasure

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 08:53 AM PST

It took me such a long time, some of the hero powers are really difficult to win with.

Also took the upgraded tavern every time I could but still only ended up getting Bob's deck 4 times in total (and managing to still lose one of those times incredibly)

Now off to the next adventure.....

A survey on the key aspects of CCGs/TCGs

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 10:17 AM PST

    Hey there guys.
I'm an Italian law graduate working on a project study on CCGs/TCGs design and card packs monetization (and a filthy UW control player). As some of you may know, The Gambling Regulators European Forum released a joint statement in 2018, signed by regulators from 15 European countries and the Washington State Gambling Commission, expressing concern that the prize/lootbox/packs system in digital games is tantamount to gambling. This may or may not cover the "card packs randomness" (for now, the answer is: it does not), but many players find the act of opening packs (rectius, the "pulls") one of the most satisfying experiences apart from the gameplay itself.

I wrote a quick (4 minutes) SURVEY highlighting some of these questions, together with others to put the former in prospective and avoid biases. If you manage to get 4 spare minutes to help me out on this I'd be extremely grateful. It is NOT a long ass questionnaire filled with open answers, I tried to keep it as simple as possible. And I asked the mods for permission to post it first.

I'll be sharing it with other communities to get a decent sized pool to pretend my data is meaningful. (I'm not getting any money by the way, this started mainly because of my curiosity on the matter and my active role as a player).

So thanks a lot for your time and JESUS CHRIST VOTE 0 ON THE IMPORTANCE OF RNG THANK YOU.
    Godspeed

P.S.: a couple of questions are redundant. Also, when i ask for "how important x is" i mean it as positively important (somebody complained about this particular point).
P.P.S: I will share the results with the whole community once i'm done. Thanks again!

    https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/hearthstone/t/main-thread-android-game-freezing-or-crashing-on-title-screen/25075/410

There has been an update pushed for Google Play installations. This can take some time to appear, but you should see an update to Version 16.4.42888.

For everyone on Android devices or ChromeOS, please try updating the game and let us know if the freezing or crashing persists.

Limited responses thus far are so far so good.

    r/hearthstone reddit posts

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 10:18 AM PST

Since the last months, more precisely, when Battlegrounds got launched, r/hearthstone has never been the same..

Almost every post in this sub Reddit since the launch of Battlegrounds is screenshots about your BG board or your stats. For your information BG players, there is a sub Reddit called r/bobstavern where you should and can post everything you want about Battlegrounds. I'm not saying g that you should not post anything on this subreddit, you should but only discussions about the game and not screenshots about your MMR or your player stats. This subreddit should have only discussion things, memes, funny moments, IQ plays, etc.. It should be more diversified. Not saying I hate Battlegrounds, sometimes I play it. But this is getting annoying, seeing most of the posts that are posted in r/hearthstone about Battlegrounds.

Rafaam, Golden Red Whelp kills two minions interaction (bug?)

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 09:56 AM PST

    Example:

    • Rafaam uses hero power.

    • Golden Red Whelp kills 6th (ordering left to right) minion first, and then it kills 3rd minion.

    • Rafaam gets a copy of the 3rd minion.

Intuitively we should get a copy of the 6th minion since it died first. But it seems the game thinks that Golden Red Whelp killed both at the same time, and hero power picked the leftmost minion.

What do you guys think about this? Intended or not?

After reporting this weird interaction, I'm still waiting a response about the messed up deathrattle order of Mechano-Egg summoning Microbots before the Robosaur.
