PullsDay Thursday: Post Your Popped Packs

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 04:07 PM PST

    Greetings Travellers,

This is a new weekly thread to showcase your crazy or unlucky pack openings, for F2P players and whales alike!

The goal of this thread is to draw discussion around pack openings into a centralized post every week, so that players have a dedicated place to share their pulls. Whether you got a sweet Tavern Brawl reward or Arena chest, we want to see it! You can also post in /r/HSPulls.

Pack Openings are still relegated to a megathread on the first day of a new expansion

Note: I am a bot. Questions or feedback regarding this thread? Message the moderators.

Idea for a new BG card. It could buff any minion on the board, including those on Bob's Tavern. Allows for some interesting strats to buff specific units (like Deryl) and minions that cant usually scale in stats (Baron, Zapp...)

Not sure if this belongs here or custom hearthstone. But remember this custom card with Galakrond?

Tavern Brawl this week is... "When Clones Attack!" (Feb. 19, 2020)

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 09:25 AM PST

Description: "Zerek's cloning technology is out of control!!! Choose a class and get a random deck, every minion you play will generate a 1/1 clone!"

    Chalkboard: https://hearthstone.gamepedia.com/File:When_Clones_Attack!.png

Format: Randomized / pick a class

Reward: one Classic pack for your first win

History: This is the second time we've seen this format, or the third if you count its being part of the 207th Brawl Spectacular. As such it's been at least 9 months since we've seen this Brawl in any form.

    Enjoy!

    What if legendaries were full-arts?

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 01:07 PM PST

One of my favorite feelings when playing Magic and even back when I played Pokémon was the feeling of pulling a full art from a pack. It feels like something that's already rare just got multiplied and it looks awesome. I know that having a full art card in a game like this doesn't do anything because most cards already show their entire art, but I feel it's be cool if you could just get them randomly from packs, maybe you can't enchant them so they have a bit more value. Just a shower thought.

Edit: I'd imagine you'd be able to disenchant them if you did get them; some people don't really care for these kinds of features and would rather just get new cards. The question is would they be worth more or the same as a golden card?

Missed the Medihv portrait? You MIGHT still have a chance...

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 08:31 AM PST

When the Warcraft movie was released on Blu-ray / DVD it included codes for the Medihv portrait in Hearthstone and Gul'dan in Heroes of the Storm.

As of a week ago, I noticed that my local Walmart has those Blu-ray/DVD combo packs priced at $5.

Here's the thing: I can't 100% guarantee they have the codes. It's not listed on the packaging. However, it is the exact same packaging that was used when I bought my copy a year or more ago.

Here is the listing on Walmart's website for those curious.

If anyone DOES get a copy, please confirm / deny that the codes are there.

Unless a rotating Core Set is added, it doesn't look like rotation will have much impact.

    Posted: 19 Feb 2020 12:13 PM PST

If anyone can recall back to the Year of the Raven rotation when Witchwood was added, that rotation was initially very lame. That's because the best deck in the game at the time (Cubelock), lost next to nothing with rotation and went into the new Standard year still incredibly strong and virtually unchanged. Thankfully, Blizzard nerfed several cards from it a few weeks in, and then the meta actually felt fresh, like a new rotation should.

I am afraid that we are in for another lame duck rotation, unless Blizzard does something to change it. Obviously it is way too early to really speculate too much about this, since there is a whole new set we haven't even seen yet. However, judging strictly based on what is leaving, I believe there is some cause for concern. According to HSReplay there are only 4 cards with a deck inclusion rate above 10% that are rotating (for comparison, there are 27 cards from Year of the Dragon with a deck inclusion rate above 10%), they are:

    Zilliax (60.2%)

    Snip-Snap (41.8%)

    Lifedrinker (14.4%)

    Witching Hour (10.7%)

While the loss of Zilliax and Snip-Snap is certainly very significant, that doesn't seem like a huge impact. Even looking in the 5-10% range we only find 9 cards (again, compared to 41 from YotD) from the rotating expansions:

    Firetree Witchdoctor (9.6%)

    Springpaw (9.2%)

    Mass Hysteria (7.3%)

    Crystology (6.1%)

    Rat Trap (5.7%)

    Town Crier (5.6%)

    Blink Fox (5.4 %)

    Zerek's Cloning Gallery (5.1%)

That makes a grand total of 13 cards that have a deck inclusion rate above 5%. Other than the fact that Mech Paladin is probably going to have a rough time (Crystology and all the Boomsday Mechs are a huge loss) and the loss of two staple Neutrals (Zilliax and Snip-Snap), it looks like there just isn't going to be much impact at all from the rotation.

Obviously a whole new set could change a lot. However, I am concerned that rotation is going to shake up things very, very little.

With all this talk about what is going on at the "Hearthstone Summit", I've been wondering if the addition of a rotating core set given for free to all players is in the works. Completely changing the Core Set around would certainly shakeup the meta game for veteran players, which is important this year when Year of the Raven's rotation is very lacking. Giving it away for free would also greatly enable the ability of newer or returning players to get on board with the game. That is the only thing I can think of that would help "new, returning, and veteran" players like Frodan's tweet mentions: https://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/f6dt8r/frodan_really_hyping_whatever_was_shown_at_the/
