Streamer Sundays Weekly Discussion Posted: 28 Dec 2019 04:09 PM PST Do you enjoy watching streamers? Do you wish there was an easier way to find new up-and-coming streamers beyond the well-known, established Twitch goliaths? Do you have a stream yourself? Are you looking to get exposure but not sure how given how Twitch displays streams and how one-shot stream promotion posts on Reddit tend to get ignored? Is anyone still reading these questions? This thread is for you! If you are a streamer or know of a cool, lesser-known (read: doesn't regularly pull in 1K+ viewers) streamer feel free to post the URL and a short, informative pitch about why you feel others would be interested to watch it. Why should someone watch your suggested stream rather than one of the hundreds of other streams out there? The next great streamer might be just one comment away. Enjoy! Note: I am a bot. Blizzard has done a great job on all four of the Galakronds Posted: 29 Dec 2019 07:59 AM PST I really thought I knew what to expect when Galakrond was first announced : I had seen something similar when C'thun was released, and one class would be able to handle that neutral package better than any other class and would be the only class to ever use Galakrond. But that's not what happened : Warrior uses the Invoke keyword both as a way to stay aggressive and and as a control tool to reach their Galakrond value bomb. Rogue makes use of the draw and is really glad to get so many lackey generators - enough to make highlander rogue a reality in a world where Togwaggle exists. Shaman tries to play on curve and draw Galakrond as soon as possible to snowball all the way to a win. Warlock, which I first thought was underwhelming, floods the board reasonably well and now has enough ways to capitalize on a wide board through cards such as Grim Rally and Fiendish rites. Blizzard has realized two things and acted upon those things :
I think Galakrond has been such a great treat that I wouldn't mind seeing a Galakrond for one more class. [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Dec 2019 10:50 PM PST The last year, Hearthstone became a much better game than it had been in years. The dev team finally seemed to begin taking a more active role in balancing, and the metas were mostly good. With the Doom in the Tomb event, it all went bad though - and it was accompanied by troubling dev statements. The shaman evolve combos were incredibly powerful but in terms of overall winrate the deck wasn't that oppressive. The devs stated that it wasn't a meta problem big enough to warrant a nerf, and that the evolve combo was supposed to be powerful. They knew it before release, they wanted this meta. Mike Donais also gave an interview saying that he believed players wanted to broken things. Once, Team 5 har a design motto: "fun and interactive". Broken cards and broken combos are the opposite of that. When a shaman dropped desert hare plus evolve on curve, the game often just ended right there. Not from how the players interacted, not from outplaying your opponent - just based on what cards were drawn. And it isn't fun - if it was, we'd enjoy coin flipping rather than complex games. A balanced deck with broken cards or combos doesn't just have the problem of having unfun games when the broken stuff is drawn. When the deck is balanced and mostly win when it draws the broken stuff, it has to mostly lose when it doesn't draw the broken stuff. That is not fun either. Descent of Dragons continued this trend, with the release of the most powerful cards we've ever seen. I'm not going to go into the abysmal balancing at release, but when they did nerf galakrond shaman they mostly missed what was the real issue: the broken cards. They nerfed the power level of the deck, but dragon's pack, galakrond and shudderwock are still the same and they're broken, generating game winning board states that many decks can't answer. That's not fun and interactive. Deathrattle rogue wasn't hit either, and the apothecary anubisath combo is so broken it is silly. It will often generate a hand full of +6/6 or +9/9, in a deck with 5 charges and 3 lifesteal rushers. It is beyond broken. And when it doesn't draw that combo, the deck is incredibly weak. Is that really fun, for either player? Does that make for good games? Other decks have similar problems. They have a few powerful cards that either present boards states that are impossible to handle, snowball out of control, or threaten an uncounterable lethal (OTK or face). A deck has to do something very unfair and broken to survive in the meta, and even worse this is usually achieved with just a few cards that will win the game when drawn. The meta isn't unbalanced, but it is still extremely because we have never had so little "fun and interactive". So many games are decided by draw RNG. Unbalanced metas you can play the top deck(s) and still have good games, but these days you can't get around that win conditions are so powerful that just drawing them decides most games. I don't know why the devs think we want this. Maybe some players do, but I just stopped playing the game. Previous bad metas seemed unintentional and fixable, where this one is bad because that is how the devs want it, and even if they changed their minds there are so many problematic cards I don't see how it can be fixed. Can anyone see a realistic patching that addresses this problem? [link] [comments]
