    Comprehensive guide to Hearthstone Battlegrounds

    Posted: 13 Nov 2019 05:54 AM PST

Conspiracy theory: blizzard refuses to patch the Desert Hare + Mogu + Evolve combo, not because of the flavor or as an experiment or anything, but rather to make more people play the Battlegrounds Beta

In battlegrounds, the minions without tribe should be way stronger.

    Posted: 13 Nov 2019 12:55 AM PST

At the moment everyone is overlooking tribeless minions, with few obvious exceptions such as brann and baron. I think that's an oversight. If battlegrounds allows for a more versatile approach than going mechs/beast/whatever every time, it could set it apart from competition even more, considering how in this game you actually can have minions that are not a part of any comp.

Tavern Brawl this week is... "Brawliseum -- Battle of the Bans" (Nov. 13, 2019)

    Posted: 13 Nov 2019 09:30 AM PST

Description: Regular Brawliseum text: "To the victors go the spoilers. More wins mean more rewards. 12 wins for maximum glory. 3 losses end your run." and the special Battle of the Bans text: "The Ban Battle has reached the Brawliseum. Pick four cards. Your opponent will BAN one of them, then we'll make you a deck full of the cards remaining."

Format: Wild (?) Standard / Constructed. (Remember that the "Doom in the Tomb" cards are still Standard-legal.) Basically build a 4-card Standard deck, knowing that one card will get banned each game, then your deck will have 10 copies each of the other 3 cards.

Rewards: See below for the full list of Arena reward tiers. Your first run is free, so even with 0 wins you'll win 1 SOU pack plus something extra (as opposed to regular TB rewards, which is 1 Classic pack for your first win, but nothing extra).

History: This is the first time we've seen this specific format. However we've had Brawliseum 7 times before (5 times with Standard decks, once with Wild decks, and once with Miniature Warfare rules.) We've also had the "Battle of the Bans" format once before.

Arena reward structure for peeps who don't play Arena often:

    • 0 wins: an SOU card pack plus one random reward: 25-30 gold, or 25-30 dust, or 1 common card

    • 1 win: an SOU card pack plus one random reward: 30-35 gold, or 30-35 dust, or 1 common card

    • 2 wins: an SOU card pack plus one random reward: 40-50 gold, or 40-50 dust, or 1 common card, or 1 rare card

    • 3 wins: an SOU card pack, and 25-35 gold, PLUS one random reward: 20-25 gold, or 10-25 dust, or 1 rare card

    • 4 wins: an SOU card pack, and 50-60 gold, PLUS one random reward: 20-25 gold, or 10-25 dust, or 1 rare card

    • 5 wins: an SOU card pack, and 50-60 gold, PLUS one random reward: 45-60 gold, or 45-60 dust, or 1 rare card

    • 6 wins: an SOU card pack, and 75-85 gold, PLUS one random reward: 45-60 gold, or 45-60 dust, or 1 rare card

    • 7 wins: an SOU card pack, and 150-160 gold, PLUS one random reward: 20-25 gold, or 10-25 dust, or 1 rare card. (If you can consistently garner 7+ wins, that's called "going infinite" because the guaranteed gold pays for your next entry fee, and the other stuff is "profit".)

    • 8 wins: an SOU card pack, and 150-160 gold, PLUS one random reward from this list [35-50 gold, or a golden common card, or a golden rare card, or an epic card, or a legendary card] AND ALSO one random reward from this other list [20-25 gold, or 10-25 dust, or a rare card].

    • 9 wins: an SOU card pack, and 150-165 gold, PLUS one random reward from this list [85-125 gold, or a golden common card, or a golden rare card, or an epic card, or a legendary card] AND ALSO one random reward from this other list [20-25 gold, or 10-25 dust, or a rare card].

    • 10 wins: an SOU card pack, and 170-180 gold, PLUS one random reward from this list [85-125 gold, or a golden common card, or a golden rare card, or an epic card, or a legendary card] AND ALSO one random reward from this other list [65-95 gold, or 65-95 dust, or a rare card].

    • 11 wins: an SOU card pack, and 195-205 gold, PLUS one random reward from this list [140-180 gold, or a golden common card, or a golden rare card, or an epic card, or a legendary card] AND ALSO one random reward from this other list [65-95 gold, or 65-95 dust, or a rare card].

    • 12 wins: an SOU card pack, plus 215-225 gold, and another 25-35 gold, PLUS one random reward from this list [140-180 gold, or a golden common card, or a golden rare card, or an epic card, or a legendary card] AND ALSO one random reward from this other list [70-100 gold, or a Standard-set card pack (Classic, TWW, Boom, Rasta, ROS or SOU), or a golden rare card, or a golden epic card, or a golden legendary card].

the 12-wins reward package remains the same regardless of how many losses you had

Seriously: what happened in the Tavern Brawl??

    Posted: 13 Nov 2019 01:08 PM PST

I don't always win playing my Renounce Darkness deck, but when I do, it's usually something really stupid that happens.

Why is no one talking about not being able to queue together with friends in battlegrounds?

    Posted: 13 Nov 2019 02:10 AM PST

I love the auto chess games, and in most of them (I haven't played one where you can't actually, except Hearthstone) you can queue together with friends.
We do this all the time when we play TFT, and when battleground launched yesterday, we wanted to play this, but none of us did, because we couldn't queue together.

    Please Blizzard, fix.

    Speeding battlegrounds suggestion

    Posted: 13 Nov 2019 04:37 AM PST

Hi. What di you guys think of a "ready" button for every player so that when all press it, it jumps to the combat phase? maybe even add a counter on the right to see how many players are ready.

This way we could save more than 30 seconds in a lot of turns. Saving 30 seconds in about 10 turns is 300 seconds -> 5 mins.

If this is idea will be approved, considering hs has reached 70 milion users a while ago, I will save let's say 10 million people at least 5 mins a day. That stacks up to 50 million minutes and that's a lot of time.

What I'm trying to say is that not all heroes wear capes and that I have to pass the time during launch break somehow :D

Anyhow, jokes aside, I think this idea could really allow people to save a lot of time. Hope you like it ^

tl;dr: read just the first 4 lines of the post :)

I've already lost three times, but I can't get rewards, and trying to start the Brawl just gives an error message. Restarting Hearthstone didn't help either.

The Battlegrounds HP sidebar is misleading for Patchwerk. Make it numeric instead of %-based and give him an extra half-HP bar of another color.

    Posted: 13 Nov 2019 12:57 PM PST

Hopefully the title makes sense. Patchwerk can be at significantly higher health than other heros, but it's hard to tell or mentally track because the HP bar is shown as a percent. His hero power is the extra health itself, not the obfuscation of HP totals because he's the only different one.

I think it makes more sense to give him an extra half health bar overlayed atop the red. Whether it's green, orange, yellow, etc; just make it clear (especially to new players) that Patchwerk has a higher pool.
