    Ashes of Outland Launches on April 7th, 2020

     

    New Class - Demon Hunter:

    • Hearthstone's 10th class will be available for free on April 2nd

    • Players will earn the Demon Hunter upon completing the prologue and will receive, for free, all 10 Demon Hunter Basic cards, a 20-card Demon Hunter Initiate set and a Standard deck after completing the intro prologue that launches on the April 2nd

    • Ashes of Outland will add 15 Demon Hunter cards as well

    • Hero Power: Demon Claws

    • New Demon Hunter specific Keyword - Outcast: A bonus if the card is played as the left- or right-most card in hand.

    Fix Coming for Battlegrounds Animation Issues

    Hey everyone,

    We've been receiving several reports of players experiencing animation issues in Battlegrounds since the launch of the 16.6 patch. This is a result of a change to our Battlegrounds animation catch-up for low end devices. Before 16.6, we would skip animations when we detected FPS drops in Battlegrounds so players wouldn't have their turn skipped; this worked well but was inconsistent with the amount of time players had back in the Shop phase. In 16.6, we changed this to be more consistent so that players would have a more normalized amount of time back in the shop. However, we've heard from many of you that the animation skips are affecting a larger number of players than we intended, which is something we're planning to fix in the coming weeks.

    Okay guys, before we talk about the good stuff: this thread is not intended to suggest Hearthstone is perfect and Blizzard makes no mistakes and nothing bad could possibly happen in this game.

    Instead, it's just to show appreciation for the great strides Blizzard has made with Hearthstone in the last year -- culminating in today. We criticized them for too-infrequent changes to the game; they are now updating, nerfing, and buffing cards far more often. We criticized them for no new game modes; Battlegrounds may not be your cup of tea, but it's a huge hit overall, and now we know another mode is on the way. We asked for a more affordable way to collect the game; and now, we know that affordability is coming -- and Blizzard took it farther than almost any of us expected. And then, to top it all off, Blizzard added a whole new class to the game, something almost none of us anticipated, with things like achievements on the horizon, too.

    I know, I know. I want tournament mode too. And there are rightful times to criticize Blizzard for their mistakes. But they've been on quite a roll with Hearthstone lately, and I think it's important to make it clear when we are happy with the choices being made in Hearthstone, and not just voice our anger when we're unhappy. Blizzard, I'm a happy customer, and I want you to know it.
