Reminder - Start Saving Quests for Lunar New Year Event on Jan. 29

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 03:16 AM PST

This is a reminder for everyone that the Lunar New Year event is starting in 2 days. See this reddit thread and this official blizzard post for more information.

If the event is anything like last year's event, we will be getting special event quests worth 60 gold+60 dust, 80 gold+80 dust, or 100 gold+100 dust. Last year we were also able to reroll regular quests into the special event quests during the event, meaning you could get up to two additional event quests by stockpiling two regular quests and rerolling them on the first two days of the event.

Last year we received two quests on the day the event started - one normal quest at the normal time (1:00 AM PST) and one event quest later when the Lunar's Event patch was applied to the game around 1:30 PM PST. The difference this year is that the Lunar's Event patch was already applied last week with the Galakrond's Awakening release. This makes it reasonably likely that we will only get one quest on January 29th - the special event quest - instead of two.

Long story short, if you're interested in min/maxing rewards from the event, you should save today's (January 27th's) and tomorrow's (January 28th's) daily quests. Then check the new daily quest on January 29th in the morning:

    1. If it's a regular quest, free up a quest slot by finishing one quest so you have room for the event quest that will probably appear around the Tavern Brawl release time
    2. If it's an event quest, then you should be able to reroll one of your saved regular quests into a second event quest

Was trying out embiggen druid. Turns out you actually have to draw at least 1 of the 2 embiggens

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 09:15 AM PST

I know this gets posted a lot but none of my friends care about this "boring card game" so here i am sharing my first ever legend with you strangers on the internet!

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 07:43 AM PST

Why does Surrender to Madness get such a heavy downside AND cost mana, but Embiggen gets to be free with a less heavy downside?

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 03:36 AM PST

I legitimately really do want to know what the thinking behind these two cards. They're REALLY similar, but one is absolutely garbage while the other is actually a viable build around.

Why was Surrender to Madness made so weak, yet Embiggen wasn't? Can Surrender to Madness be buffed? Its damn near literally unplayable.

What do people think might get HoF'd this year?

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 06:12 AM PST

I have just under 1600 dust and am considering crafting some epics, but if there might be cards I don't have getting HoF'd, I'll wait. What do people think might happen this year?

If the next year does a 3 part story what would you like it to be?

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 11:09 AM PST

So I think people ended up liking this whole... what are we calling the trilogy? "Year of the Dragon" feels odd as that's the year and not really the story (aside from the end). Regardless I think people overall found it fun and interesting. So if blizzard plans to continue this trend what would you like the next story to be about?

If we have to go with something familiar to hearthstone how about a time travel adventure with Toki? At this point I think the older Toki at the end of Toki's monster hunt was coming back to stop Toki and the rest of the hunters from defeating Hagatha. Thus making it so Hagatha would only control the Witchwood instead of joining Rafaam and resurrecting Galakrond. However what about if the League of Explorer's win? What if something really bad happens to Toki, she then goes on a time travel expedition to stop it before it starts, and then she screws up the time line and reality starts breaking?

That however was just an idea I had, what would you guys want from a 3 part story?

I made a custom Hearthstone Format called Explorer. It uses every playable card in the game. At the beginning of every month it bans select cards until it resets at the beginning of the Hearthstone year.

Since a new class is probably never going to happen, how do you feel about alternate Hero Powers?

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 12:35 PM PST

A lot of people want to see a new class added to the game, obviously, it is highly unlikely that this will ever happen as such a class would be extremely hard to balance and it'd be probably just completely dead in wild, probably "new" classes will be introduced KoT style with Hero cards and such.

Okay, fine, it is understandable that Blizzard is happy with the current nine classes, but I was thinking about new things that could be added to the game and came up with the idea of alternate Hero Powers, this is how they would work and my reasoning behind them even existing in the first place:

So, more often than not classes get archetypes that don't quite get there, sometimes even, these archetypes feel a bit "off" and I don't say "off" in the sense that they don't fit the class they are in, but rather they don't fit the playstyle those classes partake in.

I was playing some heal paladin the other day and I was thinking how much better the priest hero power would be in the specific deck I was running, then, the idea came to me. What if all heroes had alternate hero powers and just like you can pick a Hero Portrait or a Card Back for each deck, you can pick an alternate hero power for each deck you have.

Ok, I hear you, it doesn't make much sense for a paladin to have a rogue hero power and I absolutely agree, the idea would be to have hero powers that fit the classes' themes without power creeping existing Hero Power.

An example would be: Alternate Hero Power for Paladin; Heal 1 Health.

Healing one health, although minor and clearly worse than Priest's hero power, fits the pure/healing capacities of the paladin class without undermining the priest's main hero power.

You'd want to run an Alternate Hero Power for a specific deck, maybe healing in a "burn" meta is better, or maybe it is all about board-control against zoo and you can tech with healing to gain tempo.
Having Alternate Hero Powers would help to tech in a low scale but also make some archetypes more viable.

For mage you'd have something like "deal two damage to a frozen minion", just an example tho, I'm each class could have something that fits their theme but has a minor effect, like all other hero powers.

It was just a thought, but I think it could be expanded and it could fit both the lore and the game, as well as enrich the game experience, giving you more decisions when building your deck.

So what do you think? Do you hate the idea, is there a hero power you think could fit a class? If so, what would it be?
