Someone help me! Hearthstone just stole 100 dollars from my account

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 01:36 AM PST

I was purchasing the 60 pack bundle on my chromebook when some sort of error occured. When I reconnected, it said "you already own this item", and then when I looked at my purchase history it charged me twice! Once for blizzard, once for google. I then had no packs in my inventory, nor the card back. When I went to blizzard supprt, it said they were not accepting refund tickets at this time. Can someone help me?

    New Battlegrounds Achievements! (Firestone)

    Hello everyone,

I have just released a new version of Firestone with Battlegrounds achievements. It looks like this now:

    Achievements overview

    Battlegrounds categories

And this is the kind of achievements you can expect to find today:

Track stats across all your Battlegrounds runs

I already have a pretty big list of things that I would like to add in the coming days and would love to get feedback from you on what you would like to see there.

And as you can expect, I have not had time to test things extensively yet, so please let me know if you find bugs or think some numbers should be tweaked.

Hearthstone needs to update their reward structure

    Posted: 06 Nov 2019 10:21 PM PST

The original 10 gold per 3 wins is severely outdated and unrewarding in the current game. It made sense back when the game launched since it only had ONE set of cards of 378 cards.

Now if your playing Standard there is currently 1,189 cards in standard play, or if you're playing Wild there is 2,290.

It no longer makes ANY sense to still have the same reward structure. CCG's are generally P2W, but compared to launch it's 6x more P2W (3x in standard) than it used to be. Your screwed if your a new player wanting to check out the game, the time you spend playing is so unrewarding compared to every other CCG (Except maybe Artifact?).

I don't even play Hearthstone anymore due to it becoming less fun over time with each new set, but I saw the battlegrounds thing and I liked the Dota/League versions so I thought I would try it out.

It is just as fun as the other two which makes me happy but it has a similar problem as the rest of the game. Unless you pre-ordered the new card set (which has NOTHING to do with this mode) you earn absolutely nothing for that game-mode itself. You may say it's only in beta but no it's open-beta (well, next week), it's a soft launch; the other two games it's inspired from still had rewards relevant to that mode during their "beta" versions as well. I'm not sure what rewards it should have but that's not my problem to solve, as it stands the only rewards you do get is the 10 gold per 3 wins as usual.

Personally if the game is 3x more P2W in standard, and 6x in Wild, then you should just get 10 gold per win, and heck maybe even 5 gold per loss as well to balance it out. The game can't sustain becoming more and more P2W and they should know that.

    Hearthstone battlegrounds

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 04:52 AM PST

I cannot stop playing battlegrounds. I love the new game mode. I just spend most of my night playing the game.

About the ranking system, how do you think it will be? Do you think we will have a legend-like rank?

I feel like this is a great time for the game.

Saviors of Uldum performed worse than Boomsday, but Battlegrounds is first of potentially more engagement drivers to come (Q3 2019 Results)

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 03:03 PM PST

Let me preface this that the Blitzchung controversy occurred in early October which is the start of Q4. Therefore, any effects that the controversy may have had to Hearthstone's financial will not show up in this quarter.

Activision-Blizzard just released their Q3 earnings and had a conference call with their executives. Q3 encompasses the period from July 1st to September 30th, overlapping with the release of Saviors of Uldum.

From the Form 10-Q, one of the differences between Q3 of this year vs. last year was "lower revenues from Hearthstone, primarily due to lower revenues from the Saviors of Uldum expansion, which was released in August 2019, as compared to the Boomsday expansion, which was released in August 2018."

This is notable because SoU also had paid single player content, whereas Boomsday did not. Similarly, the Witchwood did not have paid single player content but still outperformed Rise of Shadows. Thus, earnings from the single player content this year was not enough to make up the gap in player churn.

Year to date, Blizzard experienced a decrease of in-game revenues "recognized of $250 million, primarily due to lower in-game revenues recognized from Overwatch and Hearthstone."

Blizzard also had lower monthly active users in Q3 2019 (33 Million) as compared to Q3 2018 (37 Million), "primarily due to lower average MAUs for Hearthstone and Overwatch."

On their earnings phone call, they acknowledged Hearthstone has endured a challenging competitive landscape, with the rise of competitors (they didn't mention which) and the emergence of the auto battlers genre.

But on a more positive note, with the increased number of developers to the Hearthstone team, they also mentioned that they are working on engagement drivers like Battlegrounds with potentially more to come in 2020. Battlegrounds is meant to be appealing to both new players as well as bring bad old players into the mix.

I'll try to transcribe the phone call verbatim when they post the audio.
